LGBT+ History Month is dedicated to celebrating the diversity of the LGBT+ community and their achievements. It is also a month for championing and defending the rights of all LGBT+ people.
It was first founded back in 1994 and is celebrated in countries across the world, from the UK and America to Brazil and Berlin.
We’ll be hosting events and activities throughout the month of February in celebration of LGBT+ History Month, including a series of Instagram takeovers relating to gender and sexuality.
We’ve also rounded up some of the resources you can access for any support you might need as a member of the LGBT+ community.
If you’re having any issues relating to your gender or sexuality or simply need someone to talk to, here are a number of support services you can access free of charge at the Students’ Union and beyond.
Our E&D Officers represent a range of student demographics at NTU and we have dedicated officers for both gender and sexuality. They’re here to make sure your voice is heard. You can find their contact details here.
We also have Facebook Groups for those student demographics. They’re a great place to connect with likeminded students and share your experiences. Join the conversation here.
Our Information and Advice Service (IAS) offers free, impartial advice on everything from money matters to mental health. They are also a third-party hate crime reporting centre. You can book an appointment with one of our trained advisers here.
