How to meet people and make friends at NTU
One of the biggest things on your mind before starting uni is probably who you’re going to meet.
If you’re moving into student accommodation, your flatmates might be some of the first new people you get to know. But you don’t have to wait until moving-in day to start meeting people.

Get involved during Freshers
Once you arrive, there’ll be loads of opportunities to meet people across Trent Freshers.
The best advice we can give you is simple: give things a go. Head to an event, try something you wouldn’t normally do, talk to someone new and don’t worry if you haven’t found your people straight away. Almost everyone else is figuring things out too.
Our Freshers programme includes everything from huge club nights and live entertainment to games, comedy, bingo and chilled socials, so you can find the kind of events that work for you.
Find your community
Freshers is only the start. Joining a society is one of the easiest ways to meet people who share your interests and find a community at university.
NTSU has more than 100 societies covering everything from hobbies and culture to performing arts, gaming, campaigning and much more.
If sport is more your thing, NTU also offers sports clubs, gyms and opportunities to get active throughout the year.

Your Freshers Fair brings societies, sports clubs, NTSU opportunities, local and national brands and loads more together in one place.
Come along, speak to different groups and see what catches your interest. You don’t need to have it all figured out before you arrive.
