Studying at NTU is incredible, but it's not always perfect.
You may encounter things about your course you'd like to change things that are hard to change on your own.
That's why NTSU has Academic Reps in place to ensure you have a say in shaping your education.
How does Academic Representation work?
NTSU helps students to become one of three types of Academic Rep: Course Reps, School Officers and PGR Reps. They each play a vital role in enabling students to share their feedback on critical decisions made by NTSU and NTU.
This student-led academic representation ensures students have a seat at the table where fundamental decisions are made about their education.
As a student, your feedback can significantly change teaching and learning at NTU—not just in the present but for many years to come.
You're the expert on student life and how your academic experience can be bettered. Becoming a Course Rep or School Officer means you can ensure you and your peers are accurately represented and appropriate changes are made to improve your learning experience.
And even if you choose not to become a Course Rep or School Officer, knowing they're there gives you an avenue to provide feedback on your course and create the changes you want to see.

Academic Rep FAQs
A Course Rep is a student who represents the voice of their peers on their course. Reps bridge the gap between students and staff members, gathering relevant feedback, raising it at meetings, and reporting back on any outcomes.
Becoming a Course Rep is easy! All you need to do is sign-up between Friday 11th September (midday) and Friday 2nd October (midday), attend your Course Rep Induction, and make sure you register at the end! It’s that easy.
Becoming a Course Rep is a great opportunity. Not only can you represent your peers and gain insight into the behind-the-scenes work of your course, but you’ll also gain lots of transferable skills that will look great on your CV! Being a rep also goes on your Live Learn Work platform.
Yes! To become a Course Rep, you must attend your induction. In this we will take you through everything you need to know for the role. You will have access to NTSU staff and Officers, who will always be on hand for any questions or concerns that you might have.

We aim to have at least one Course Rep for each course that is run by NTU. The Course Rep represents their peers on their course in course and school level meetings, and it is a volunteer position.
We have a Postgraduate and an Undergraduate School Officer for each School – meaning we have 14 in total. They represent the whole UG or PG cohort for their School at meetings with university and student union staff, and work with the VP Education on campaigns. It is also a paid role.
Your feedback goes to the relevant staff or teams to make changes to your education.
Course Reps and School Officers attend different meetings with University and Student Union staff, meaning that your feedback goes to the right people to help make the changes you need.
As a Course Rep, you are expected to collect feedback from your peers. You’ll then attend committee meetings, school forums and academic rep assemblies to deliver this feedback to members of staff and work with them to develop your course.
It’s also important that you work with your School Officers and feedback to them so that they can deliver the information you’ve gathered to the meetings that they attend.
Once these meetings have taken place, you then report back to your peers who gave you the original feedback and start the cycle all over again.
