A Students' Union is a student-led organisation that exists to represent, support, and empower students throughout their university journey. Independent from the university itself, the Union ensures that every student's voice is heard on the issues that matter most. At Nottingham Trent Students' Union (NTSU), we're proud to be affiliated with the National Union of Students (NUS) and dedicated to enhancing student life through representation, services, events, and development opportunities that help our members thrive both on and off campus.

Nottingham Trent Students’ Union is one of the largest and most active Students’ Unions in the UK. We’re here to help NTU students make the most of their university experience, whether that’s through our state-of-the-art venues, a varied programme of events and entertainment, or the support and representation we provide. Our work is guided every day by our engaged and diverse student community. As an organisation, we employ over 300 student staff and 60 career staff, who together speak more than 20 languages.

In recent years, we’ve focused heavily on developing our People and Culture, strengthening our Sustainability work, and investing in Learning and Development. Since 2022, we’ve achieved EcoCampus Silver Accreditation, received an ‘Excellent’ rating as a Green Impact Students’ Union, and now divert 97% of our in-house waste away from landfill. This work is largely led by our Sustainability Advisory Group, which brings together colleagues from across the organisation, including senior leaders, student staff, and external partners. We’re proud to be the first Students’ Union in the UK to achieve independent ISO14001 accreditation, to have co-founded the Sustainable Charter for smarter supply chain purchasing, and to calculate our carbon footprint each year as we work towards our Net Zero by 2040 goal.
