THE PROBLEM
Students often struggle to locate specific buildings and rooms around campus, especially when they are unfamiliar with the layout. This can lead to students getting lost, arriving late to classes or meetings, and experiencing unnecessary stress and frustration.
MY EXPERIENCE
As a first year animation student, I remember being excited for induction week. However, that excitement was accompanied by stress because I was having a hard time looking for the room. Which caused me to arrive late on my very first day of university. Thankfully I didn't get too lost because I downloaded the 'city campus map' document, which made it easier for me to find where the building is. Unfortunately, I noticed some of my classmates were still getting lost and didn't even know there was a city campus map until shared.
Though the campus map is helpful in locating buildings, it did not help in locating where the rooms are and which floor and corridor you should go to.
As weeks go by, I was able to navigate where my classes are as it was the same room every week and I stopped getting lost. Though the chances of getting lost are lowered once you go to the same class every week, if a event, meeting, or fair pops up, students are bound to be lost especially if it's in a unfamiliar building or room.
THE SOLUTION
I'd like to suggest having an interactive campus navigator that helps students find specific rooms within university buildings.
It would be really helpful if students could search for a room number and get directions on how to reach it, including which building, floor, and corridors to take.
This could make navigating campus much easier, especially for new students or those unfamiliar with certain buildings !
For easy access, it would be best if this was implemented in the MyNTU app.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
With this campus navigator, there are also other features we could add. Such as :
