Our student radio station, Fly Live, won two golds at the BBC-sponsored 2022 Student Radio Awards in November.

They were awarded overall Best Station Sound and Best Entertainment Show for the station's 25th-anniversary show, Fly Live at 25.

Here's what Deputy Station Manager Becky Slade had to say about this achievement:

"Where do I even start! I've been part of Fly Live since my first year of uni. I'm now in my final year, and going to the radio awards is always such a highlight. It's been amazing to see Fly Live grow, and being a part of that is something I'll always cherish. Winning this award is a memory I'll forever tell and never forget."

Last year's station manager Harry Briggs on winning Best Entertainment Show:

"I'm delighted to win the SRA award for the best entertainment programme. It was a massive project where the whole station worked really hard. We had to do the station's 25th-anniversary justice, and I think we did.

Kudos to all the Fly members who helped, the alumni who featured on the broadcast, and everyone from the radio community who listened. I dedicate the award to everyone who's been involved with Fly since the 1990s. If you missed the show, it's available to listen back to at flylive.co.uk".

Deputy Head of Sounds & Systems Jack Thubbron on winning Best Station Sound:

"It's fantastic for our sound production to be recognised with an award for the second year in a row. We had some great feedback from the judges, and I'm looking forward to taking up the Systems & Sound role at Fly again next year".

Jake Marney, Fly Live Station Manager, said:

"It was a really emotional evening. These awards show Fly Live is one of the best student stations in the country, and I'm super proud of all we've achieved in the last year. Thanks to Jack Thubbron for making the station's jingles and sweeps and to the team behind the Fly Live at 25 show.

The station has come a long way in its 25-year history from its origins as Kick FM before becoming Fly FM and now Fly Live. We have huge plans for 2023 and can't wait to share them with you."

A huge congratulations to everyone at Fly. We can't wait to see what your future brings.
