The NTSU Student Council has voted unanimously TO APPROVE this big idea and the President of NTSU would be the Executive Officer to follow-up on this Big Idea.
Apprentiships are a growing offering by NTU, meaning that around 300-400 courses are added per academic year, these students can not engage with NTSU in the same way as traditional students due to work and study committments. The current Postgraduate and Non-Traditional E&D Network has not worked for students within these courses as it focuses mostly on postgraduate pathways. In order for NTSU to offer an equal offering to apprentiship students they need the opportunity and ability to attend and engage with union events which currently isnt the case.
By introducing an Apprenticeship Network, students on these courses will have the ability to run events and network with others on their course allowing them to create a representative offering for apprentiship students. This will also give students on these courses the resourses to feed back to NTSU about issues, this is currently not something which is promoted as apprentiship students have staff networks which support them and also dont feel apart of the NTU or NTSU community.
