This idea was taken to our Student Council meeting and has been passed! This is something that we have been looking into doing for a while now and we will be implementing it at the end of terms.

Food banks in Nottingham help thousands of local people and families each year. They give out food, toiletries, sanitary items, blankets, and more. They're a vital lifeline for many, and I think as students we can be in a really good position to help out.

I know at the end of this year I'll be left with a bunch of tins, packets of food, cleaning products and toiletries that I never even got to using, that I don't want to lug back home, and that are still perfectly usable. Instead of binning it all and sending everything to landfill, why don't we band together and create a collection point at all three Student Union buildings at each campus? Together we can collate a collection of things we haven't used at the end of each year and it can be sent to food banks to be distributed to those who really need it.

Not only will this benefit our local community, but will also help the environment too!

Hey Chelsea! This idea was taken to our Student Council meeting and has been passed! This is something that we have been looking into doing for a while now and we will be implementing it at the end of terms. If you are interested, we will also be volunteering at the local foodbank throughout the year. Please let me know at liv.broad@su.ntu.ac.uk.
