Headshot of NTSU's President, Conor NaughtonFollowing lobbying by the NTSU Executive team as part of the Students Deserve Better campaign, NTU will be refunding rent in UPP and University-owned halls for students who have not lived there between 4th Jan - 17th May. The Exec team have also written to over 60 private accommodation providers lobbying them to follow the footsteps of NTU’s providers and offer a refund or waiver on rent for those students who are not staying in their accommodation during the national lockdown. We have published a full list of responses we receive from providers to allow students to make an informed choice in future years.

The announcement of another national lockdown where university students are told not to return to accomodation for at least six weeks I think we should recieve money back. Our rooms won't be occupied so why should we continue to pay? My idea is that students who won't be at accomodation should be offered to recieve money for the time they will not be living there. This will not only allow students to gain money back which could help with financial struggles but also prevent us feeling 'scammed'.
